NES Fircroft (NES) is one of the region's leading engineering workforce solutions providers and is celebrating 20 years of supporting the energy industry across the Middle East. NES has been on the ground since 2004 and now has over 300 staff across 12 offices, supporting a workforce of more than 23,000+ client employees and prioritising nationalisation targets across the region.
Our Journey
NES’s Middle Eastern journey started in Qatar, with our team working to build a regional presence on major energy projects. In doing so, we reached a monumental milestone in 2012, when our workforce headcount reached over 1,000. This was just the start, and over the last twenty years, NES’s presence has expanded across the Middle East into additional locations, including the UAE, Oman, KSA, Iraq, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
NES’s operations have grown and evolved with the region over the past two decades. For example, workforce requirements were initially predominately expat-driven. However, NES has now realigned its strategy to support each country with its nationalisation vision, hiring more nationals every year and only supplementing that talent with expats when required. NES’s differentiator in the region is that it employs local people in-country where clients need support. NES understands local laws, cultural practices and is active in the local community. An example of this approach can be seen through NES’s work in Saudi Arabia, where it supports charitable projects, such as an affordable housing scheme for the local population, through the supply of an exclusively Saudi national workforce.
Navigating a Changing Landscape
Over the last two decades the energy landscape has seen immense change and has developed from what was a predominantly Oil & Gas focused region to become a front runner in driving Renewables energy, Power, Chemicals & Construction and Infrastructure projects. NES is delighted to provide the talent needed to support this transformation, which has seen the region become a global leader in energy transition.
Darren Grainger, Managing Director, Middle East, said:
“The fact that NES has been able to grow so successfully across the region over the past 20 years is a testament to the culture we have cultivated within our business, reflecting our core values of teamwork, drive & personal impact. I am proud to have been part of the journey and extremely honoured to have shared this journey with a team that continues to excel and grow together. Whilst we celebrate the last 20 years, we are looking forward to what the future will bring. We are well-positioned to support our clients as they embark on some of the world's most ambitious energy transition projects.”
