Telecom Engineer

Purpose of the Job:

1. Manage telecommunications systems and projects within designated operational areas.
2. Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of telecom infrastructure to ensure effective support for operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and Implementation:
  • Design, plan, and implement telecom systems including voice, data, and video communication networks.
  • Develop and execute testing plans to validate functionality, performance, and compliance of telecom systems, particularly radio communication networks.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and assess technical requirements to ensure alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
  • Supervise the installation, configuration, and testing of telecom equipment adhering to best practices.
• Testing and Troubleshooting:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve telecom infrastructure issues, ensuring minimal downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Execute comprehensive testing plans to ensure telecom systems function effectively and comply with relevant standards.
• Stakeholder Coordination:
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure the successful deployment and integration of telecom solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address telecom requirements for new projects and system expansions.
• Performance Optimization:
  • Monitor the performance and capacity of telecom systems, implementing optimization measures for enhanced network efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians on telecom-related matters.
• Radio Communication:
  • Design and plan radio communication networks, including frequency allocation and interference mitigation.
  • Conduct propagation studies and site surveys to assess radio system coverage and performance.
  • Develop and implement testing plans for validating radio communication systems.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the telecom industry, recommending innovations to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of telecom designs, configurations, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining telecom systems.
• Proficiency in telecom protocols and technologies including VoIP, SIP, MPLS, and wireless communication.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecom engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with telecom equipment and tools such as routers, switches, PBX systems, and cabling infrastructure.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in telecom system design and implementation.
• Experience working in industrial or plant environments is advantageous.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work in challenging and dynamic environments.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations as needed
