Technical Team Leader

This company is an industry leader in Low and Medium Voltage circuit breakers for demanding applications is currently looking for a Team Leader. They have >100 years of history and strong brand recognition. With a primary facility in Rotterdam, NL and manufacturing partners in Hungary and the United States, they offer a global perspective while maintaining a small, communicative team with a flat organizational structure. Currently there is a need within the business for a Technical Team Leader to lead the technical team in Rotterdam. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this individual will be joining a team of four, where they will be responsible for technical support for components and systems related to low-to-medium voltage circuit breaker systems (mostly retro-fit in the Critical Infrastructure market) and DC ‘packet’ switch products. As these products involve power, voltage, and current going through the switch, an understanding of power/electrics would be beneficial, but an education in mechanical design is more necessary. They typically serve customers in Rail, Marine, Data Centres, Defence and General Industry, with this position offering an opportunity in the future to include customer interaction.

Top 3 Essential Requirements:
  • Mechanical engineering background with some understanding of power/electrics
  • Leadership and management
  • Experience using CAD software
  • Ability to read industry Standards and ‘Norms’ in Excel (for example, IEC 60947-3; EN 61000-4 EMC testing)

Competenties:
  • As a Technical Team Leader, you will be responsible for a team that delivers innovative mechanical components and systems. Your team’s role involves:
  • Design & Analysis: Define, design, and analyze DC ‘packet’ switch solutions
  • Customer Engagement: Convert customer requirements into actionable designs
  • Project Contribution: Assist in quotations and task list creation
  • Creative Solutions: Develop high quality Design for Manufacture (DfM) solutions
  • Documentation: Prepare technical project documentation
  • Scope Management: Identify and translate scope changes
  • Supplier Coordination: Manage technical aspects with external suppliers

Skills / Experience:
  • Great with MS Excel and other Office 365 applications
  • Languages: Dutch & English
  • Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: Proficient in mechanical design and possibly some involvement in power/electrics. Experience of leading a small team of people for 5 years in other positions
  • Skills: CAD software, especially SolidWorks. Leadership.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiar with general industrial standards and regulations (IEC 60947-3; IEC 61439; EN 61000-4 is relevant for EMC testing)
