Technical Laboratory Planning Senior Supervisor
Roles:
· To supervise shift operations of the Central & RMH Laboratory in Indonesia through sampling and testing for quality control and assurance of incoming copper concentrate, received from the mines at RMH, in process materials and output of the Smelter, Electro Refinery Sulphuric Acid Plant.
· To optimize resource deployment during shift operation
Focus Area:
1. Operational Excellence
· Supervising shift operations for testing and analysis of samples of the input, output and in-process materials at every stage of the smelting, electro refining, sulphuric acid production process
· Ensure timely sampling and analysis of finished good copper cathode & sulphuric acid as per SOP / standard
· Facilitating timely calibration and maintenance of equipment to maximize equipment availability
· Supervising accurate and continuous maintenance of data leveraging the Integrated Laboratory Management System (LIMS) with respect to sampling, testing, analysis, on time reporting during shift
· Supervising methods of validation, lab instrument calibration, calibration standard preparation
· Undertaking ISO :17025 / SNI document update and documentation preparation
· Ensuring availability of consumables and spares in the lab.
2. Compliance & Sustainability
· Implementing safe work practices during testing at the Central Laboratory and RMH for achievement of targeted safety indexes during shifts
· Implementing environment safeguarding protocols:
o Ambient air monitoring of fugitive gases from the stacks
o Water analysis of effluents released from the ETP and STP
3. Profitability and Cost Optimization
· Optimizing inventory and usage of consumables including spares at the Central Laboratory and RMH during shift operations
· Generating accurate and timely reports during shifts for metal accounting to minimize metal loss
4. Customer Centricity
· Preparing inputs for testing certification of quality of copper cathode with purity of 99.99% (LME ‘A’ grade) produced at the Electro Refinery and sulphuric acid having 98.5% concentration produced at the Sulphuric Acid Plant
· Preparing Shift report and reporting to all concerned department.
· Minimizing internal and external customer response time of self and team
5. Talent Management
· Optimizing talent deployment
· Maximizing productivity of the team members
· Training team on the job
Specifications:
A. Education
· Graduate in Chemistry or Diploma in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering
B. Experience
· 6-8 years in laboratory of process plants with at least 2-3 years of experience in leading teams
C. Technical Competencies
· Understanding of laboratory management system
· Understanding of copper smelting and refining operations as well as acid production
· Understanding of quality systems
· Proficiency in analytical tools and techniques
· Understanding of health-safety and environment protocols
· Knowledge of Lab instrument knowledge / commissioning- ICP, AAS, XRF, S-OES, Fire Assay, Auto-Titration, AFS, polishing /milling machine Oxygen analyzer, Sulphur analyzer, jaw crusher, rod mill, sample divider etc.
