Role: SURF Installation Engineer
Based: London, UK / Paris, France

Duration: 12 months (renewable)

Activities
  1. To promote safety culture within the project and his/her activities. Lead by example to have the team members and colleagues adhering and contributing. To adopt & demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regards to HSEQ rules and requirements.
  2. To ensure that safe and ethic working practices are carried out within the activities that he/she is managing or interfacing with. To guarantee the compliance on his/her activities.
  3. To ensure that state of the art, referential and local rules/laws are complied with and captured in all contractual requirements.
  4. To work by anticipation. To assess and to identify risks for the PBF activities and manage associated mitigation actions at his/her level.
  5. With the spirit of the company's values, to establish and manage his/her activities motivating his/her counterparts and to work diligently to meet the targets of the Projects.
  6. To promote digitalization and innovation as far as compatible with good enough approach for all activities. To seek optimization and savings all along the different phases of the project. To focus on costs without impairing QHSE objectives
Communication and reporting:
  1. To keep the SURF Project Package Leader(s) and all parties (as required) informed regarding ongoing activities status in particular on HSE related actions/decisions.
  2. To liaise with the SURF Installation Manager & SURF Project Package Leader(s) for:
    1. Anticipation of problems
    2. Resolution of any technical problems,
    3. Possible technical optimization & improvement.
  3. To assist the SURF Project Package Leaders or SURF Installation Manager in reporting, progress monitoring, and answering to queries relevant to installation activities being part of SURF package scope of work
  4. To work by anticipation by being proactivate in resolving issues. Assess and identify risks for the SURF activities and manage associated mitigation actions at his/her level
During project tendering phase:
  1. Ensure that referential, applicable codes and standards and local rules/laws are complied with
  2. Review related documentation related to installation and prepare responses on any qualifications
  3. Participate in clarification meetings, summarise and evaluate each bid on a technical basis
During Engineering and Operations phases:
  1. To review all documentation from CONTRACTORS and/or on the design & operability of Installation included in the SURF package Scope of Work.
  2. To assist in the evaluation of risk associated to innovative installation solutions included in the SURF package Scope of Work
  3. Follow/supervise installation engineering activities ensuring that they are carried out in a good workmanship in accordance with project requirements, Company procedures, strict compliance to HSE regulations and QA/QC policy within the agreed schedule
  4. Ensure the readiness of the documentation by timely reviewing / validating the documentation issued by Contractors (HSE, operation and technical documentation), in compliance with Project Specifications and Procedures, the company's General Specifications, Discipline requirements and international norms and standards, in compliance with the schedule and with the aim to optimize costs without impacting the required level of Quality and Safety.
  5. Raise necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unacceptable / unjustified design choices, constructability issues...
  6. Liaise with the other Package teams of the project in matters related to engineering and manage or ensure an adequate management of installation engineering-related interfaces, in close liaison with SURF Interface Engineer.
  7. To participate in project reviews as requested by TotalEnergies’s referential (HAZOP, HAZID, PRs...).
  8. Support the SURF Installation Manager, SURF technical leader and SURF Project Package Leaders:
    1. Anticipation and resolution of any technical problems,
    2. Showing awareness for possible technical optimization & improvement
    3. Estimation/monitoring of the schedule associated to the activities under his/her responsibility
  9. Follow/approve testing activities (FAT, EFAT, SIT, etc) performed by Contractor(s) from an Engineering point of view
  10. Review/approve specifications of the Contractor’s proposed vessels according to Company’s requirements including response plans and risk identification. Prepare the approval of the vessel with marine from one hand, and with the MWS from a second hand
  11. Follow/supervise, when necessary, at construction yards or logistics bases the load-out and seafastening operations
  12. Follow/supervise offshore installation activities ensuring that they are carried out in a good workmanship in accordance with project requirements, Company procedures, strict compliance to HSE regulations and QA/QC policy within the agreed schedule.26. Provide assistance in the preparation of SIMOPS dossiers.
  13. Liaise with the other Package teams of the project in matters related to engineering and manage or ensure an adequate management of installation engineering-related interfaces, in close liaison with SURF Interface Engineer.
  14. To organize, lead or participate in all necessary meetings with Contractors (weekly progress meeting, monthly status meetings, technical meetings …).
Internal and external interfaces:
  1. Provide technical assistance to the CPY representatives who are o/b CTR offshore installation vessels or on onshore yard for load-out, such as review and validation of Management of Change.
  2. To liaise with the other Package teams of the project in matters related to subsea tie-in and remote intervention engineering and manage or ensure an adequate management of installation engineering-related interfaces, in close liaison with SURF Interface Engineer
Close out and Lessons learnt:
  1. To gather ‘lessons learnt’ and provide feedback to other entities as required
  2. To provide REX along project execution
  3. To provide Close out report

Accountabilities:
The Service holder is accountable for respecting HSE rules and requirements and for ensuring their application within his scope of responsibility.
The Service holder is also accountable for demonstrating, individually, an exemplary behaviour with regards to HSE rules & requirements.
The Service holder shall bring assistance and work closely in good spirit with the SURF Project Package Leaders and the SURF Installation
Manager.
The Service holder will be working within the transverse team providing assistance to multiple PBF projects.
The Service holder shall ensure that all deliverables associated to all installation / operational activities included in the SURF package Scope of Work meet project schedule, technical requirements and contractual obligations
The Service holder shall ensure that all installation engineering and operation deliverables are timely issued and fit for purpose. The Service holder shall also liaise with Interface leader and ensure that engineering interfaces with other concerned packages are dully dealt with and managed.
The Service holder shall ensure the readiness of all the technical documentation (analyses / procedures and manual). He shall apply and promote a lean approach in particular for document review to reach an acceptable level of quality.
The Service holder shall assist the Engineering or Installation Manager in the coordination of all transverse activities.
The Service holder shall assist the SURF lead package to prepare reporting, internal or external presentation, specific workshops.
The Service holder shall liaise and interface with subsea department for the offshore work delegated to the entity.

Qualifications/Experience required:
  • Qualification : Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Professional Experience : 15 years
  • Experience in similar position within Deep-Water project environment : more than 10 years
  • Languages : English oral and written mandatory, Oral French advantageous
