NES Permanent Placement division is seeking for its client, a global leading provider of marine and offshore services to the shipping, oil & gas and energy sectors, for a Sr. Manager Basic Design / Offshore Engineering in Dubai.

Job purpose:
  • Design for Offshore Oil & Gas (fixed and floating) and Marine Structures
Responsibilities:
  • Execution of structural design (FEED and Detail Engineering) for the scope of work
  • Effective and efficient operation of the Basic Design & Offshore Engineering Team.
  • Prepare Project basis of design and technical specifications.
  • Prepare and review engineering studies, design drawings and documents.
  • Prepare materials / equipment technical specifications.
  • Prepare engineering execution plan for Offshore and Marine projects.
  • Plan multidiscipline engineering deliverables / activities.
  • Ensuring jobs undertaken by the Team are accomplished in a professional manner and with emphasis on safety, quality, environment & cost effectiveness.
  • Ensuring engineering work undertaken is in accordance with Departmental Work Instructions, Procedures and Standards.
  • Liaison with Flag Authorities, Classification Societies and other Design Approval Authorities.
  • Ensuring optimum use of resources, equipment and manpower.
  • Implement and review the department processes for continual improvement.
  • Provide on the job training to the subordinates and succession plan within the department.
  • Support and assist with proposals, including EPC bidding.
  • Integrate Contractor’s engineering team in detail design work.
  • Act as Engineering manager in FEED and Detail design projects.
  • Define and manage the scope of work for engineering consultant companies.
  • Experience with procurement process and integration of vendor information in design documents.
  • Manage the design team, procurement engineer and coordinate with commercial estimator to work out optimized technical solution and cost.
  • Define and manage the scope of work for EPC contractor engineering team
  • Perform constructability review during design phase.
  • Manage changes from clients /vendors and engineering company.
  • Review contracts and define Scope of work.
     
Candidate profile:
  • Master of Science Degree in related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 Years’ Experience in offshore and Marine Industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of offshore engineering design for fixed and floating structures.
  • Knowledge of Marine and Naval Architectural Engineering.
  • In depth knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including technical safety requirements.
  • Experience in both engineering consultant companies and EPC contractors organizations.
  • Experience in North Sea offshore Projects.
  • Experience in FPSO projects.
  • Experience with Marine systems and Naval Architecture
  • Strong background with resolution of technical issues during project planning and execution phases.
  • Project management skills.
  • Contract management skills
