Position: Senior Project Manager
Location: Birmingham Head Office, Home, with travel to project sites.

Profile:
You will be responsible for leading the execution of complex medium to large projects. You will ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with company policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
Development and coaching of other members within the project management team is important, you will also be assisting in preparations of tenders and bids where required. Finally, deputise for the operations manager when required.

Profile:

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead the project team, establish the project execution approach and oversee project hand-over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
- Proactively promote an inclusive environment in the team and in all interactions with stakeholders and the business.
- Ensures that the project follows execution best practices and company policies.
- Effectively monitor and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization. Monitor and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow.
- Identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Capture, analyze and share lessons learned throughout the project.
- Ensure that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer
- Act as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- Provide support in the preparation of proposals and bids to meet customer needs.
- Constantly seek ways to learn, acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Keep up to date with industry and product developments.
- Identify your own training needs, undertake self-directed and formal training programs as directed by Management.
- Be willing to work towards achieving PMP status and developing into a more senior role.
- Ensure projects follow and comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies such as “Don’t look the other way”, Lean 6 Sigma and Power Grids hazard reporting.
- The proven ability to manage and navigate politically charged customer environments to reach account goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability and confidence for senior audiences.
- Has strong analysis and problem-solving skills to quickly analyses complex situations.
- Proven ability to effectively structure work to handle multiple demands and competing activities; to take control of issues and manage them through resolution.
- Can demonstrate the capability of being a dependable, accountable self-starter that seeks guidance and feedback, when necessary, but is willing to take the lead with little guidance.
- Has a passion for customer satisfaction, problem solving and teamwork.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management (preferably in T&D or other Power projects)
- Significant experience in an asset intensive industry; specifically, power generation and transmission, utilities, rail transportation, mining, public infrastructure.
- Substantial experience in major projects management within a customer or consulting service.
Ideal Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable equivalent qualification and/or experience in lieu.
- Can demonstrate accountability for budget and planning.
- Can demonstrate the ability to balance leadership and subject matter expertise.
- Has proven knowledge of project management methodologies such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and standards set through the Project Management Institute (PMI) and PRINCE2 (or equivalents).
- Can demonstrate a well-developed competence in leadership roles relevant to all sizes of implementation projects.
- Is fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate in a way appropriate to the audience.
- Member of working towards professional membership of an appropriate body e.g PMI, APM, IET
