Senior Engineer Piping & Layout

NES Permanent Placement division is seeking for its client, a global leader in the engineering and construction of major projects for the energy and infrastructure sectors, both offshore and onshore for a Piping and Layout Senior Engineer in Abu Dhabi.

Job purpose:

• Perform technical tasks assigned by the Piping and Layout Lead, related with design, verification or study activities;
• Interface with other Project Specialists, Designers and Draftsman;
• Co-ordinate technical activities performed inside or outside Saipem.

Responsibilities:

• Execute the activities within own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements;
• Development Technology know how and Commercial support;
• Feasibility;
• Bidding phase / Commercial proposal development;
• Bill of material;
• Plot plan lay out proposal;
• Support lead to define man hour and cost estimate;
• Project Execution;
• Ensure the Piping and Layout engineering support to different projects;
• Ensure the achievement of assigned goals and the fulfilment of project quality requirements and contractual obligations;
• Analyse technical documents (e.g. specifications, calculation notes, drawings) to assess the scope of the studies required and the potential risks;
• Seek solutions which can bring overall savings to the project;
• Estimate quantities or validate estimation done by other specialist of the team;
• Check all produced documents (internal or subcontracted) like design reports, technical specifications, drawings under responsibility;
• Write the Piping and Layout methodologies / Design Premises comprehensive of all necessary data, general and specific design guidelines;
• Analyse project technical documents to validate consistency between the budget, resources and means allocated for thework completion and the targets to be met;
• Organize the work of the team under responsibility;
• Define and follow-up the planning of resources mobilization;
• Monitor and report actual progress including 3D / check for Discipline activities, including control of men-hours and delivered documents;
• Control the input data for team activities and check/review all documents issued by the team;
• Attend to internal review activities and inter-discipline check meetings;
• Provide technical support to Project group;
• Provide technical support to Procurement, Subcontracting and Construction activities included in the scope of work;
• Supervise the writing of specifications and requisitions as well as technical bid evaluations;
• Inform on a permanent basis the Project Piping and Layout leader of any foreseen technical or financial or delay risk;
• Feed the Piping and Layout Department improvement system by reverting the lessons learned during the project;
• Construction and start up;
• Participate to test circuit verification;
• Field engineering during construction activities.

Candidate profile:

• at least 15 years of experience in a similar role;
• good knowledge and experience of layout including maintainability and handling knowledge;
• good knowledge and experience 3D model Review and resolution of comments, inter discipline coordination required;
• Oil&gas and/or Offshore Fixed Platform project experience and/or Gulf client experience preferred;
• Navisworks, Microsoft excel, Word, working knowledge is required.
