Our client a Global Oil and Gas organization in Perth CBD are currently seeking a Senior Contracts Engineer to join them for a 12-month contract.
The commercial interests of the Company in respect of the project are satisfactorily projected in all of its activities and transactions with third parties, in particular:
Commercial opportunities are pursued and maximised
Company policies and procedures are adhered to
Project reports accurately reflect the current commercial status of the project and the likely outcome at completion
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide guidance to the project team to ensure adherence to the requirements of the main contract.
• Ensuring that all correspondence including notifications to the client are issued within the timeframe set out in the main contract.
• Agree payment criteria with Client and work with the finance team and Client to ensure that milestones and invoices are submitted and paid in a timely manner.
• Implement a change management system and work with the project team to ensure that any potential changes are identified and managed accordingly.
• Preparation, issue, negotiation and settlement of claims and variations to the client, working in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Preparation and interim progress claims and negotiation and agreement with clients representatives of the amounts claimed.
• Insurance certificates are issued to the client in compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract and the requirements set out in “Group Contracting Principles”.
• Agreement of terms of Performance and Retention Guarantees in accordance with the requirements of the main contract.
• Preparation and negotiation of final account with client representatives.
• Providing assistance to the Project Manager to produce the Project Execution Plan and any other necessary project procedures.
• Providing input into Project Management Reports and other management reports as required by Senior Management
• Ensuring the terms and conditions of the Subcontracts / Purchase Orders are appropriate for the nature of the goods or services being obtained and that the requirements of the main contract are incorporated where appropriate
• Where necessary, assisting Procurement/Subcontract team with the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions and evaluations of tenders.
• Assisting the Purchasing/Procurement team with the evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims and variations
• Manage any necessary insurance and warranty claims as required on the project.
• Facilitate internal and external Risk Workshops and maintain the Project Risk register.
• Maintain awareness of, and compliance with, the Management System procedures which directly affect the work undertaken
Key Skills and Experience Required:
• Commerce/Business/legal qualification to degree level (Such as law or Quantity Surveying); or
• A background in Project Engineering/Construction Management in offshore/onshore oil & gas industries.
• A sound understanding of the principles of contracts law and business ethics and the contractual/commercial principles adopted with the industry.
• Good negotiation, verbal & written communication skills.
• Good personal and business organisation skills.
• Travel throughout Asia Pacific region may be required
