Job Description – Safety Officer
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of employees and their families, visitors, and contractors within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH Certificate. Knowledge and/or Experience
  • 5 years’ experience in occupational health and safety, environment and quality management, emergency, and risk assessment management.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Computer Literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Perform regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Safety Training: Conduct training sessions and workshops for employees on safety practices, emergency response procedures, and proper use of equipment.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and industry standards. Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and best practices.
  • Safety Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and oversee emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and emergency drills.
  • Contractor Management: Provide safety supervision for all contractors. Approve and monitor Permit to Work (PTW) applied by all contractors relevant with site activities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Safety Equipment: Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with management, employees, and external agencies to promote a culture of safety within the organization.

  • Flexibility: Job holder must be willing to stay after hours when needed. Work under pressure to meet deadlines, interface with all needed external and internal parties to make decisions and coordinate joint projects.
