Job Title: CSU Safety Instrumented Systems Specialist

Location: Kitimat, BC

Type: Contract

Reporting to: Systems Lead (SIS)

 

Role Overview

 

We are seeking a CSU Safety Instrumented Systems Specialist to support process control and safeguarding functions during the Commissioning and Start-Up phases. The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving safety-critical instrumented systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support Operations: Assist in safeguarding schemes and operational support.
  • SIS Activities: Manage modifications, trip investigations, alarm management, and documentation.
  • Collaboration: Engage with authorities on design and implementation of changes.
  • Process Improvement: Deliver high-quality support for control and safeguarding systems.
Documentation: Maintain and update relevant safety and control system documents.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Experience: 8+ years in SIS within the process or oil and gas industries.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of Functional Safety Standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511) and process safety concepts (HAZOP, LOPA).
  • Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities with SIS systems; experience with Yokogawa Centum VP and ProSafe is a plus.
  • Certifications: Functional Safety certification (TUV, CFSE, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
Work Requirements

  • Location: Must reside in Kitimat, BC.
  • Hours: 50 hours per week (10-hour days), with potential 12-hour shifts during critical activities.
  • Compliance: Pre-placement medical assessment, background check, and full COVID-19 vaccination required.

  • Living Arrangements: Company-provided accommodation in Kitimat
  • Work Schedule: Normal pattern is 10 hours/day, with potential for 12-hour shifts.
