ROLE PURPOSE
The Project Control Engineer delivers the project control activities on cable lay projects, including planning, cost control, progress measurement, and reporting. Acting as a central point of coordination, the role ensures project performance is monitored and reported accurately to support informed decision-making by the Project Manager and Project Control Manager.

The Project Control Engineer delivers the project control activities on cable lay projects, including planning, cost control, progress measurement, and reporting. Acting as a central point of coordination, the role ensures project performance is monitored and reported accurately to support informed decision-making by the Project Manager and Project Control Manager.
Key Areas of Responsibilities & Activities Cost Control & Forecasting
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze cost reports and forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor incurred costs, commitments, and cash flow forecasts.
- Ensure alignment between cost baseline and contractual scope.
- Highlight budget deviations, cost trends, and value of change impacts.
- Ensures alignment of cost file with activities (Schedule, Suppliers accounts…)
- Prepare Projects Monthly Reports for presentation to Management
- Implement and maintain physical progress measurement systems for all project phases.
- Prepare progress curves (planned vs. actual vs. forecast).
- Support quantity tracking and earned value analysis (EVA).
- Support in generating accurate weekly and monthly reports for internal and client use.
- Track and quantify variations and changes; evaluate impacts on cost and schedule.
- Maintain logs of trends, deviations, and pending change orders.
- Assist in risk assessment updates with cost and schedule implications.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, offshore, and finance teams.
- Liaise with Document Control to ensure planning and reporting reflect the current status of key deliverables.
- Support internal reviews, audits, and client reporting requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and update the integrated project schedule using Primavera P6.
- Structure the schedule in alignment with the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Track activities, progress, and critical paths across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and offshore installation.
- Assist in preparing lookaheads, “what-if” scenarios, and recovery plans when required.
- Interface with document control to ensure schedule reflects the latest engineering deliverables and documentation status.
- Coordinate schedule inputs from various stakeholders and disciplines.
PROFILE Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in project controls, ideally in offshore EPCI or subsea cable installation.
- Strong knowledge of cost control, planning, and earned value management.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools (Power BI, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, IFS, etc.) is a plus.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are advantageous.
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential.
- Structured and analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Comfortable managing interfaces across multiple disciplines.
- Self-driven, with the ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
