We are currently looking for a Power Line Technicians in the Calgary area.
The successful candidates will be experienced in the installation and maintenance of high voltage power system equipment.

Duties

  • Construction of overhead and underground power lines, and related utility equipment
  • Assist in the supervision of contracted labour (construction crews, hydrovac etc).
  • Assist with construction of ductbanks, conduit and cable installations.
  • Provide accurate field checks and reports.
  • Cable Installation and Terminations
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specification
  • Install, alter, repair and maintain various electrical systems and related equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and to ensure compliance with code
  • QA/QC documentation
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Comply with standards and procedures of the Iconic Power Systems Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment
  • Provide leadership and guidance to apprentices and laborers
Requirements
  • Valid Red Seal Power Line Technician certificate
  • Experience installing, commissioning, and modifying high voltage underground and overhead distribution facilities, including live line work
  • Thorough understanding of laws, codes, and regulations related to the PLT trade
  • Valid driver’s license (class 1 or 3 is an asset)
  • Must be able to travel and work evenings or weekends from time to time.
  • Safety tickets an asset (i.e. CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Arrest and Confined Space)
  • Must be proficient in fundamentals of lockout/tagout
  • Ability to lift >50lbs
Employment Pre-requisites and Requirements
  • D&A Testing and a background check is a mandatory requirement of this position.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
