NES Permanent Placement division is seeking for its client, a global leader in the engineering and construction of major projects for the energy and infrastructure sectors, both offshore and onshore for a Principal Engineer - Piping Materials in Abu Dhabi.

Job purpose:

  • Ensure the good design of the material of the piping network both at technical and cost level;
  • Issue technical part of inquiries, bid analysis and order for piping components;
  • Interface with other Piping specialists, project specialists and designers;
  • Refer to project piping and layout lead and to head of piping material section.
Responsibilities:

  • The Engineer executes the activities within his area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements;
  • Development Technology know how and Commercial support;
  • Feasibility;
  • Bidding phase / Commercial proposal development;
  • Select critical material;
  • Estimate cost;
  • Project Execution
  • Be responsible for the quality, respect of budget and respect of project schedule for piping material tasks;
  • Review the Client technical documentation and requirements;
  • Be responsible for the design of all piping components;
  • Issue project piping material specification and piping components data sheets;
  • Perform wall thickness calculations of pipes;
  • Issue technical specification for requisition of all piping components;
  • Issue technical bid evaluation for piping components offers;
  • Review and approve vendors documents;
  • Maintain project technical files and update Company standards;
  • Perform the inter-disciplines checking for the part of documents in accordance with the scope of piping material section;
  • Check documents issued by piping material engineers;
  • Check the issued MTO validate by lead;
  • Be responsible for the establishment of the PMMS (Piping Material Management System) data base;
  • Assist inspection department;
  • Prepare mechanical valve specification for body of motorized valves;
  • Inform on a permanent basis the Project Piping and Layout leader of any foreseen technical or financial or delay risk;
  • Issue the part of the REX in accordance with the scope of piping material section after contract completion;
  • Evaluate Piping Material cost;
  • Construction and start up;
  • Provide technical support;
  • Assist, when necessary, engineering adjustment on site;
  • Home office activities (master);
  • Validate cost estimate;
  • Projects coordination: provide input to discipline leads ad material engineer to harmonize design and methodologies;
  • Provide support to projects and procurements to solve non standards and standard problems;
  • Define the modification of department work flow and dept technical standards;
  • Participate to the modification of company work flow and technical standardisation;
  • Collect project feed backs for continuous improvement implementation (Lesson Learned);
  • Participate to vendor and outsourcing qualification;
  • Participate to project/company procurement strategy (Purchasing team);
  • Develop and scout tools for simplified design activities;
  • Plan, control and manage outsourcing engineering center.
     
Candidate profile:

  • at least 12 years of experience in a similar role;
  • good knowledge and experience of piping material engineering;
  • good knowledge and experience of piping specification creation, technical bid evaluation, vendor document review and vendor coordination;
  • Oil&gas and/or Offshore Fixed Platform project experience and/or Gulf client experience preferred;
  • Microsoft excel, Word, working knowledge is required.
