NES Fircroft are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer on a FIFO basis to support a Tier 1 mining operator, with a strong focus on site-based engineering, P&ID management, and field execution. This role is embedded within operations, ensuring alignment between design documentation and actual plant conditions while supporting safe, reliable plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with maintenance and operations teams on-site to deliver practical mechanical engineering solutions.
- Lead P&ID reviews, redlining, and verification to ensure accuracy against field conditions (as-built alignment).
- Conduct regular site walkdowns to validate plant configuration, identify discrepancies, and support continuous improvement.
- Provide technical support for pressure equipment and classified plant, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
- Support and execute site-based maintenance and minor capital projects, including contractor coordination and field supervision.
- Assist in maintaining and improving site technical standards, drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Contribute to mechanical integrity and reliability programs, with a focus on practical, field-driven outcomes.
- Support fault finding and root cause investigations, particularly where P&ID interpretation and plant configuration are critical.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in mining, oil and gas, or heavy industry, with strong site exposure.
- Demonstrated experience working with P&IDs, isometrics, and plant documentation, including mark-ups and updates.
- Strong understanding of fixed plant equipment, piping systems, and pressure equipment.
- Proven ability to perform field verification, walkdowns, and interface with operations teams.
- Experience supporting shutdowns, maintenance execution, or brownfield modifications is highly regarded.
