Job Overview: Our client in Kings Mountain, NC is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Process Controls and Automation to join their team for a full-time contract to hire opportunity at their plant site. The ideal candidate will have experience working in chemical or metals manufacturing environments and possess a solid understanding of plant maintenance processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects while optimizing manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems focused on process controls and automation for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements in chemical or metals manufacturing environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process controls, automation systems, and mechanical equipment.
• Assist with plant maintenance projects, ensuring that equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
• Provide technical support and guidance to production and maintenance teams regarding mechanical systems, process controls, and automation technology.
• Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Manage and execute engineering projects, including the installation and commissioning of new automation and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all engineering activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in process controls and automation, preferably in a chemical or metals manufacturing environment.
• Experience with plant maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Knowledge of automation systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA, DCS) and mechanical equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with safety regulations in industrial environments.
