NES Fircroft are working with a leader in design and build of high integrity fire & blast protection solutions. They are looking for a Management Accountant to work with them on a permanent basis from their Darlington office. 

Job Purpose: 
Apply principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilising appropriate accounting control procedures.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and undertake the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's computerised financial systems
  • Supervise the processing and handling of weekly and monthly payroll
  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as nominal ledger accounts, sales and purchase ledger transactions in line with accounting principles
  • Prepare Monthly Management Accounts (both individual company accounts and group consolidated)
  • Prepare and review monthly Contract Cost statements for live projects
  • Analyse overhead data to establish trends and over/underspends
  • Multi-Currency accounting including recording, reporting, and analysing financial statements in foreign currencies for consolidation into group accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and undertake monthly actual vs budget variance reviews in relation to revenue, expenses, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents. 
  • Liaise with the Project Team to assist with elements of project analysis/accounting and budget control
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly applications for payments and invoicing in relation to reimbursable contracts
  • Reconciliation of bank statements and monthly balance sheet items with a view to explain the rationale behind each balance held
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Interact with external auditors in completing audits 
  • Interact with key clients in relation to audits and applications for payment/ invoicing
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. 
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Experience required for role:
  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) 
  • Strong Knowledge of UK GAAP Accounting Principles including knowledge of Long-Term Contract Accounting under FRS102 (PCM)
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Multi-Currency, Inter- Company and Group Consolidated accounting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and attention to detail with the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to querying transactions
  • Ability to manage all aspects of month-end close and reporting
  • Positive and approachable character with excellent communication skills
