Utilities & Industrial cleaning Technician
The Utilities & Industrial Cleaning Technician (HydroBlaster) has split duties for Utilities and industrial cleaning, with the priority of cleaning refining equipment during turnarounds. This role specializes in operating and maintaining equipment used for cleaning refinery components, including vacuum trucks and HydroBlast/ultra-high pressure washing equipment. When they are not cleaning, they are responsible for maintaining and operating the utilities, systems, and equipment at the Clients Plastics Renewal, working in the Utilities department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute the clients core values and vision.
  • Observe all safety rules and always use proper safety equipment.
  • Effectively operate and maintain specialized cleaning equipment, including vacuum trucks and HydroBlasting/ultra-high pressure washing systems, used in the cleaning and turnaround of refinery equipment.
  • Mange proper collection and processing of wastewater generated from cleaning activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring and documenting that all manufacturing utilities and facilities are functioning safely and efficiently. This includes the interior and exterior of the plant.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Assists in operations of boilers, air compressors, chillers, air rotation units, make-up air units, wastewater treatment facility, feed water supply equipment and fire suppression system.
  • Assists in the monitoring of all control panels in the utility control rooms.
  • Assists other team members in the performance of their duties.
  • Assists in the monitoring and adjusts chemical additions for optimum boiler, air compressor, chiller performance and wastewater treatment plant performance.
  • Enters work orders, identify parts and equipment and schedules work to ensure all equipment is properly maintained according to the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Performs duties and directs activities according to our emergency preparedness plan.
  • Document accurate records of preventative maintenance and utility operations.
  • Read, understand, and communicate content from maintenance and operator manuals.
  • Understanding the changing needs of the site through time and seasons to effectively maintain all cleaning and utilities systems.
  • Assist maintenance technicians during project work and post project clean up.
  • Work different shifts and/or overtime to meet business needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with operation of vacuum truck or similar equipment.
  • Experience with HydroBlasting/Ultra-high pressure washing equipment.
  • Mechanical/maintenance work related background.
  • Boiler Operator experience and Wastewater Treatment Operator experience preferred.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, compressed air system, as well as fire protection systems is preferred.
  • Standard understanding of utility operations.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools to perform preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of construction needs.
  • Effectively use and maintain personal tools and safety equipment.
  • Safely use plant mobile equipment including lifts, carts, and fork trucks.
  • Able to read, write and comprehend English.
  • PC skills in common office software.
  • CDL Preferred
