NES Fircroft is delighted to be in partnership with an Energy Industry Giant who are looking to add a Lead Process Engineer to their Associated Gas Upstream Project which will be based in Iraq.

This role will be a contract based opportunity and will be to work on Design phases of the development. It will be based from client offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Position will be employed on a contract basis, initial duration will be 12 months and will be required for a candidate to work full time in Dubai. In return a strong day rate will be on offer with associated contractor support package.

Activities
  • Lead the implementation of high-level technical expertise in process engineering, requiring analytical, interpretative, and constructive thinking with a significant degree of evaluative judgement, to ensure the highest level of engineering integrity and reliability, and safety and environmental compliance.
  • Oversee process engineering during the Detailed Engineering phase, in covering all aspects of design to ensure technical and safety objectives are met within the approved scope, budget and schedule.
  • Will manage one process engineer.
Key Accountabilities:
• Manage the Contractor's Process Engineering activities including validation of personnel numbers, qualifications, and experience; usage of appropriate design tools, including computer hardware and software; adherence with all project objectives, requirements, specifications, standards, procedures, execution plans and design verification processes.
• Provide guidance to the Contractors to complete the design as per project specifications in a timely manner and provide clear instructions
• Lead process design and coordination amongst other disciplines. Review and process work activities discussing and determining priorities in conjunction with Engineering Manager and other disciplines to ensure no delays to the project schedule. Verify that comments are returned without delay and with the required quality.
• Participate to tender assessments, clarifications with bidders and other activities as related to the discipline.
• Participate as required to technical interfacing with other internal entities and external entities (e.g. Field Operations, other client projects)
• Provide overall guidance pertaining to safe work practices on process design, risk analysis and hazard management within the project perimeter.
• Review and propose response to letters, technical queries, deviation requests for project management approval.
• Expedite Contractors to issue deliverables with the right quality level and as per the approved MDRs.
• Assess on regular basis the progress of Contractors deliverables and provide if required adequate mitigations to avoid project delays
• Lead and participate in all required engineering and safety reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL reviews, 3D model, TRA etc.) and in the set-up of actions list and close-out process.
• Support the preparation and participate to Project technical reviews, provides answers, and ensure timely implementation of the findings.
• Review vendor documents and assist the package engineers in technical problem solving at all stage of work.
• Attend to vendors meeting as required.
• Provide support to challenge the contractors and promote alternatives design to optimize the cost, work, and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with the project specifications, applicable laws and regulations, international codes and standards, HSE Standards
• Contribute to the studies leading to technical decision making and issue recommendations to the Project Management.
• Contribute to the LLI procurement CFT documents preparation ensuring coordination with the Company Procurement Team.
• Contribute to the Construction CFT documents preparation ensuring coordination with the Project management Team.
• Ensure proper reporting, highlight critical issues, and propose remedial actions.
• Assist the Construction supervision team for their activities (such as procedures review) and the preparation of the pre-commissioning activities.
• Assist the Commissioning team for the preparation of the commissioning and start-up activities.
• Liaise with Field operations team to assist for the issuance of the operating procedures.
• Provide assistance to Field operations team for the request of modifications (RFM) when required
The job holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behavior with regards to HSSE rules & requirements and for ensuring that HSSE requirements are duly implemented within his area of responsibility

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in process design engineering at FEED/EPC stages in the oil and gas industry with exposure to onshore oil and
  • gas processing facilities in greenfield and brownfield projects with at least 6 years at a lead position.
  • Shall have good understanding of process safety and process control.
  • Shall have good knowledge in flow assurance.
  • Shall be able to perform process design calculations when required.
  • Should have experience with oil and water separation treatment units, rotating equipment, production and injection wells design, flare system, utilities
  • systems, reverse osmosis treatment units, sour systems.
  • Should have experience in commissioning.
  • Operational experience would be an advantage.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experienced in multicultural environment, resilience, and capacity to adapt to different environment.
  • Diploma: Engineer or equivalent
  • Language: English
