Summary
Spearhead the development of in-house EV charger testing facility. As the leader of testing activities and day-to-day test facility operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of EV charger testing. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing the scheduling and management of daily activities, such as the reception and installation of test devices, developing and implementing comprehensive test plans to ensure the highest standards of performance and reliability, and compiling detailed reports to document test results and provide actionable insights. Job Description
- Manage and lead all day-to-day activities in the test lab in service of the overall testing programs and objectives.
- Maintain and manage test equipment and facilities, ensuring a safe and productive environment for staff.
- Implement and manage safety programs in accordance with OSHA standards and company policies.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, safety, and documentation to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Execute system level testing on EV charging hardware with focus on user experience, reliability, and safety.
- Create summary reports for all tests conducted and provide data analytics of the data collected during testing.
- Collaborate with product managers, QA/QC engineers, OEMs, and other stakeholders to diagnose technical issues, refine test methods, and review test findings.
- Develop new tools, test methods, and specify new equipment to enhance testing procedures, build on existing capabilities and improve efficiency of test activities.
- Coordinate shipments and assist with packaging, loading and unloading equipment and supplies.
- Schedule and supervise field testing or testing at 3rd party laboratories when testing cannot be completed in-house.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a testing role, preferably in the automotive or EV charger industry.
- Minimum 1 year of experience managing day-to-day activities of a lab or similar facility.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies and experience developing and refining testing methodologies.
- Must have the ability to develop comprehensive test plans and test cases tailored to different functional and technical requirements.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards and experience in developing and implementing safety programs.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Ability to lift/carry 25lbs.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle charging systems, power electronics, electrical grid infrastructure, electrical safety standards, and load management is a plus.
- Experience with collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence, and requirements management tools like JAMA.
- Experience testing EV chargers and familiarity with common industry standards (ISO 15118, CCS, DIN70121 etc.)
- Experience with OCPP protocol and EV charger backend environments.
- Programming skills and the ability to automate tests are a strong plus.
- Project management experience and/or certification (i.e. PMP).
