Job Title: Laboratory Technician I
Location: Lake Charles Refinery, Westlake, LA
Contract Type: Contingent (Contractor)
Duration: 6 months (potential extension)
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts; overtime may be required
Position Overview
The Laboratory Technician I will support the Lake Charles Refinery laboratory by performing routine and specialized analyses on process streams, finished products, standards, and environmental samples. This role ensures compliance with safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards while contributing to refinery and loss control programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct analytical testing on refinery samples using approved methods.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with QA/QC and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate sample logistics and prepare data reports for engineering and operations teams.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
• Apply problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues and uphold data integrity.
• Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• 1+ years of refinery or chemical lab experience OR associate degree in a science/technical field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic math and analytical skills.
• Valid TWIC credential; ability to work 12-hour shifts.
• Use of standard PPE and H2S monitor.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with refinery QA programs and loss control.
• Familiarity with instruments such as GC, HPLC, XRF, ICP.
• Knowledge of environmental/outfall water monitoring and reporting.
• Understanding of P66 site-specific procedures and safety practices.
