Our client, a major Oil and Gas Operator is seeking a HSE Advior to join their Perth based team. 

The successful candidate will: 
  • Support and provide guidance to the Project teams
  • Provide HSE and related advice as required
  • Provide HSE leadership, guidance, and support for the safe execution of respective scopes of work, including guidance and support for all respective EPCI Contractors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist HSE advice, guidance, and support to the Clients Project team.
  • To provide HSE support and coaching to the EPCI to ensure compliance with applicable HSE-MS Policies, Standards, Plans and Procedures.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Business Management System.
  • Complete daily, weekly, or monthly HSE reports as required.
  • Be the focal point for Learning and Capability within the Project team
  • Lead the development and delivery of the HSE training, inductions, management presentations and communicate learning activities.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for HSE performance improvement.
  • Be the focal point for the client’s incident management system.
  • Review and analyze HSE incident reports and data from the client and Contractors, with a view to develop reports and provide presentations on performance as required.
  • Lead or participate in Incident Investigation and Reporting.
  • Conduct assurance activities as per Assurance Schedule.
  • Lead the client’s HSE Audits or participate in contractor HSE Audits.
  • Support the implementation of the clients Project HSE initiatives.
  • Review HSE performance (lagging indicators) of the contractors and their sub-contractors, suppliers, and vendors; and proactively develop and propose HSE Action Plans or HSE initiatives to address any areas of concern.
  • Promote the ‘Stop Work’ authority by intervening in unsafe acts or conditions
  • Assist in the application and compliance to the Contractor HSE management systems and processes
  • Actively participate in HSE meetings, pre-starts, and toolbox talks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HSE KPI’s and prepare reports to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements
  • Support mobilization and monitoring of Contractors, Suppliers and Vendors
  • Ensure risk management principles are applied to all work activities to demonstrate ALARP.
  • Participate in HAZID workshops
  • Ensure that risks are identified, managed, and mitigated.
  • Ensure Action Tracking Registers are maintained (Risk, Hazard, Actions), tracked and closed within due by dates.
  • Support the Offshore execution scopes of work on vessels and the facilities, and where required provide HSE coverage and support on vessels and facilities offshore (rotation).
  • Escalate HSE issues to the HSE Manager or HSE Team Lead as necessary.
  • Support and promote the Leadership Framework - 6 Leadership Capabilities
  • Act as a ‘Leader’ and HSE Coach by setting an example to others through actions.
  • Support and promote the clients Core Values
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Tertiary/Diploma/ Technical Safety Qualifications
  • Lead OHS Auditor
  • Trained “Root Cause” investigator in a recognised RCA methodology i.e., Tap Root preferred
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Previous experience in an offshore / oil and gas position
  • HSE experience in an onshore LNG Plant
  • Experience in Management of Contractors
  • Experience in the development and roll out of HSEMS documentation and programs
  • Experienced in facilitation and administration of core HSE risk management tools
  • Experience in developing HSE documentation to support the requirements of Contractor Management
  • Strong interpersonal skills in influencing and teamwork
