Fluids Engineer – Role Overview

As a Fluids Engineer, you’ll play a key role within the engineering team, you will take ownership of a defined scope within a project, with responsibility for delivering high-quality technical output while ensuring productivity, progress, health & safety, and full compliance are maintained throughout.
This is a hands-on, project-focused role where you’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and clients to drive successful project delivery from design through to commissioning

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of fluid systems across allocated project scopes
  • Produce and review high-quality engineering documentation (P&IDs, schematics, calculations, BoMs, manuals)
  • Act as the technical focal point for all fluid-related aspects within project teams
  • Support project delivery by managing progress, technical output, and change control
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, regulations, and internal procedures
  • Contribute to design reviews, safety assessments, and risk evaluations
  • Provide hands-on technical support through manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning phases
  • Work closely with procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery
  • Support tendering and proposals by developing technical specifications and cost inputs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external partners
What We’re Looking For
  • Solid experience in industrial fluid systems or hydraulics, ideally within heavy industry
  • Strong design capability with a practical, hands-on engineering mindset
  • Ability to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions suited to harsh operating environments
  • Experience producing engineering calculations (Excel or similar)
  • Good understanding of health & safety and regulatory requirements
  • Confident working both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Desirable Experience
  • Background in fluids design engineering within heavy industry environments
  • Experience across the full project lifecycle (design through to commissioning)
  • Exposure to iron & steel or similar process industries
  • 3D CAD experience (Autodesk Inventor, CADWorx, Siemens NX)
  • Professional membership or working towards accreditation
