Field Service Technician

Nevada is New Zealand’s go-to specialist for dairy effluent equipment and solutions, working alongside dairy farmers across New Zealand and Australia. From their base in Hawera, they operate as a small, dedicated team with a strong family vibe, focused on providing practical solutions and exceptional service to their customers.

We are now seeking in this customer facing role an honest, reliable Field Service Technician to join their professional team on a permanent full-time basis. The role involves a combination of workshop and on-farm work, with occasional coordination of one or two team members as well as contractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, possess a can-do attitude and be physically fit.

It is envisaged you will spend up to 3-4 nights away per month working in locations outside of Taranaki (which includes Australia) so you will need to have a valid passport or have the capabilities of getting one.

Key Responsibilities:
Set-Up and Installation:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist with the coordination of contractors
  • Overseeing/ coordinating of the trenching and installation of PE or PVC pipes
  • Setting up of slurry tankers and bladder tanks and the coordination of this work
  • Operate machinery such as tractors

Field Service and Technical Support:
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Setting up and carrying out mechanical repairs on tractor machinery, including slurry tankers, pond stirrers, pumps, and irrigators on farms
  • Service equipment to ensure proper functioning

Machinery Repairs/Rebuilds:
  • Overhaul electric and PTO driven pumps.
  • Repair vacuum pumps on slurry tankers.
  • Rebuild irrigators.
  • Setup/Commissioning of New Machinery.
  • Scheduled Servicing of Machinery.
  • Assembly of New Machinery/Equipment such as slurry tankers, pond stirrers, irrigators, and pumps.

Requirements:
  • Experience or understanding on mechanical or engineering work
  • Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions
  • Strong attention to detail and a tidy work ethic
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to meet customer expectations
  • Availability for occasional overtime work
  • Forklift license is recommended but not required
  • Excellent team player with a cooperative mindset

  • Must hold a full clean car license
  • Moderate level of fitness required
