Our client, an international operating company, is currently seeking a Dredging Rep to work 28/28 in Northern Mozambique.
The Dredging Engineer reports to the Upstream Installation/Construction Manager and oversees the daily dredging activities in Palma Bay, part of the scope related to the Offshore Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) Contract.
The Dredging Engineer shall oversee the dredging (approx. 6 M m3) and backfill (approx. 2 M m3 and 430 000 mT of rock dump) activities taking place in Palma Bay. They are expected to assess, manage, and control the dredging and backfill phase of the project. They shall oversee the dredging and backfill activities in line with agreed method statements and the Project HSEQ management system.

They are expected to assess, manage, and control the dredging and backfill phase of the project. They shall oversee the dredging and backfill activities in line with agreed method statements and the Project HSEQ management system.
Project Management Activities
- Oversee the survey, dredging and backfill activities during all project phases. This includes regular visits to the dredging and backfill vessels during operations.
- Ensure all marine spread inspection, vetting and follow-up activities have been completed as vessels are mobilizing on site. This also includes reviewing and signing off the dredging DPR, liaise with operational personnel and assist with the planning of the work.
- Report any anomalies to the Upstream Installation/Construction Manager without undue delay. Prepare reporting with regards to the progress to the Upstream Installation/Construction Manager and Shallow Water Lead. Bring to their earliest attention any issue which present a significant threat to the Project and in addition offer mitigating measures / work plans.
- Ensure safe, on time delivery of all dredge and backfill related elements of the EPCI scope of work whilst ensuring a high level of quality consistent with a project design life of 30 years.
- Monitor and manage all facets of work within the dredge and backfill scope of work to ensure that schedule, technical, quality and HSES requirements are, as a minimum, met or improved upon.
- Implement a readiness process to ensure a progressive preparation is made by both contractor and company teams towards the start of site activities and that this is documented.
- Provide effective leadership and assistance in identification and resolution of technical interfaces in conjunction with other managers / senior discipline engineers, in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Qualifications/Experience required
- Minimum of 10 years relevant track record in dredge, backfill and rock dump activities including; deployment of Cutter Suction Dredgers, Back Hoe dredger and Trailer Suction Head Dredgers, pipeline trench and backfill design, relevant design codes / standards on large EPCI contracts.
- Knowledgeable in geotechnics and geotechnical aspects as they relate to dredging scopes of work and suitability of proposed dredging and excavation spreads.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with contractors and contractor personnel and progress collaborative problem solving.
- Fluid communicator capable to represent the project in front of third parties and other stakeholders in a professional and organized manner.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required with geotechnical civil or mechanical engineering preferred.
