NES Fircroft has partnered with a Tier 1 mining company to recruit several roles within the control systems space. They are looking for people who ideally have a background in Iron Ore or within a mining environment. There will be the option of it being shift work or a Monday to Friday roster.
 
Your role:
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainability.
  • Offer technical support for critical production incidents and equipment failures related to control systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot the root causes of system downtimes, implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Initiate and manage projects to improve plant performance by optimizing processes and resolving system inefficiencies.
  • Develop and execute coding and graphical elements for PLC/SCADA systems.
  • Ensure control system alarms are effectively maintained and optimized.
  • Manage the design and commissioning of control systems for new installations and equipment upgrades.
 
About you:
  • A trade certificate or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Significant experience with PLC and SCADA systems, with preference for Allen Bradley PLCs and Citect SCADA, though other systems like GE or Schneider are also relevant.
  • Previous work experience in large-scale bulk handling operations is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root-cause analysis.
  • Proven experience in implementing or supporting continuous improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with field networks (e.g., DeviceNet, ControlNet, EthernetIP, Profibus, Profinet, Modbus) and experience working with sensors and actuators (such as variable speed drives and analog/discrete sensors).
  • Knowledge of programming languages like FBD, LD, ST, SFC, SPC, PID, and defensive programming is a bonus.
  • Professional certifications (ISA, TUV) and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status are considered assets but are not mandatory.
