Job Title: Civil Superintendent

Location: Zeebrugge, Belgium

Duration: 4-month contract

 

Project: Gas Pipeline Project

Job Summary:

Wood is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Superintendent to oversee and manage civil construction activities at our gas pipeline project in Zeebrugge. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all civil works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including daily and weekly updates.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure their adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work is being carried out as per design and specifications.
  • Resolve any on-site issues or conflicts that may arise.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of all construction activities and documentation.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Previous experience working on gas pipeline or similar industrial projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus.
Working Conditions:

  • This is a site-based role, requiring presence at the Zeebrugge gas pipeline project.
  • The position may involve working in challenging weather conditions and extended hours.
