NES Fircroft are working with an engineering design house in Thornaby who are looking for a Civil Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. Initially 12 months. Outside IR35.
ROLE: Civil Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparation/checking of design calculations, specifications, quantities and communication with/supervision of draughtsman
HOURS OF WORK: 37 hrs/week / flexitime - core hours Mon Thurs 9:00–16:00 Fri 9:00–12:30
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLE
• To work as part of a Design Team responsible for the production of technical documentation to high professional standards within challenging programmes and budgets
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree minimum
• Additional equivalent Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status preferred
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Background in Heavy Engineering/Chemical/Petrochemical Industries preferred in relation to reinforced concrete foundations, sub-structures, aqueous retaining structures and general infrastructure works(roads, hard standings and drainage schemes)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
• English Language – written, spoken and technical
• Specification/report writing (preferred but not essential)
• Awareness of and compliance with Company’s Quality Management System procedures and requirements.
• Ability to design/work to Eurocodes British Standards and Codes of Practice
ESSENTIAL SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE
• IT literate
• Experience using Tekla
• Design/analysis software usage (preferably ROBOT & TEDDS but not essential)
KEY TASKS AND MAIN DUTIES
• Prepare and/or check design calculations
• Supervise production of and check drawings/specifications for compliance with calculations
• Prepare Technical Specifications/Reports/Scopes of Work
• Prepare Technical Analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors
• Co-ordinate/liaise with other Engineering disciplines
• Interpret Vendor drawings/information
• Work to design budgets and programmes
• Comply with Company Quality Management Systems
• Report to Lead Civil Engineer
• Other professional duties reasonably required
