Job Summary:
The Business Development Director will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategies to drive the growth of the company in the solar industry. This role will focus on creating new business opportunities in both residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) sectors, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding the company’s presence in the market. The Business Development Director will lead a team focused on sales growth, market expansion, and long-term business sustainability, playing a key role in shaping the future of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Development:
Develop and implement long-term business development strategies to achieve the company’s growth and revenue goals, particularly in the solar sector.
Market Expansion:
Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities in both established and emerging markets, including geographic expansion and new business verticals.
Partnership & Relationship Building:
Build strategic partnerships with key players in the industry, such as developers, financial institutions, utilities, and government bodies, to unlock new growth avenues.
Pipeline Development:
Oversee the development and management of a robust pipeline of sales and business development opportunities. Ensure consistent flow from lead generation to closing deals.
Sales Leadership:
Collaborate with the sales team to ensure alignment between business development and sales strategies, overseeing major account management and guiding large project negotiations.
Contract Negotiation & Risk Management:
Lead negotiations for large contracts, focusing on terms that balance business growth with risk mitigation, ensuring profitable and sustainable project outcomes.
Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to inform business strategy. Stay ahead of market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in the solar industry.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with technical, financial, and operations teams to align business development strategies with operational capabilities and project feasibility.
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the business development and sales teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Innovation & New Ventures:
Identify opportunities for innovation, including new products, services, or technologies that can be integrated into the company’s offerings.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in business development, with at least 5 years in the renewable energy or solar industry.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing growth strategies, leading teams, and closing high-value deals.
- Strong knowledge of solar project development, financing, and market dynamics.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain high-level relationships.
- Proven experience in leading market expansion initiatives and securing new business partnerships.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate market trends and customer needs into actionable business strategies.
