Purpose:


The Business Development (BD) Associate is a key member of the New Business Development group that is responsible for developing and driving the maturation of the Natural Gas Sector’s portfolio of new opportunities across the upstream to downstream value chain. The BD Associate is a critical role in shaping and executing strategic initiatives to enhance the sector’s long-term value and is responsible for supporting the identification, evaluation and execution of new opportunities as well as post-investment portfolio management.

Accountabilities: 

The BD Associate is directly accountable for industry and investment research and analysis, investment screening, financial and valuation modeling and analysis, due diligence, and investment pipeline monitoring and management.

Main Responsibilities of this role:
  • Corporate Strategy Development
    • Contribute to the development and execution of the sector’s long-term growth strategy
    • Gather and analyse information on industry and competition to identify and evaluate potential opportunities and threats
    • Manage and monitor pipeline of investment opportunities
    • Prepare preliminary business case and investment thesis on proposed transactions and initiatives
  • Financial Analysis
    • Perform complex financial modelling and valuation analysis to evaluate business opportunities and support strategic decision-making
    • Analyse financial statements and market data to assess impact of investment opportunities on sector’s value
  • Transaction Execution
    • Conduct in-depth due diligence on investment opportunities and initiatives
    • Coordinate with cross-functional in-house teams and third-party advisors to integrate due diligence workstreams
    • Assist in negotiating and structuring of transaction agreements
  • Portfolio Management
    • Support the integration and handover of investments to their project teams to ensure their alignment and execution with strategic value
    • Manage post-investment portfolio prior to handover to project team
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance or corporate development, preferably with transaction experience in the natural gas, petroleum or power industry
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
