AWS Migration Senior Project Manager – 12 Months Contract - Gentofte, Denmark

AWS Migration Senior Project Manager Description:
My client is undertaking a significant migration of its application landscape to Amazon Web Services (AWS). To streamline and oversee this transformation, a dedicated Migration Program is being established. The program comprises three teams responsible for migrating applications and infrastructure from on-premises and Azure environments to AWS.
One of these teams, named the "Migration Factory," will focus on facilitating and coordinating the migration of applications categorized as Rehost or Re-platform. Given the repetitive nature of these activities, which leverage common AWS technologies (e.g., EC2, RDS, EKS), the team is aptly named the "Migration Factory." The team will consist of a Senior Project Manager and a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to ensure efficient execution.
My client’s IT operates within a fully Agile framework, structured around IT Product Lines (IPLs) and Agile Release Trains (ARTs). As such, the Migration Factory team will engage extensively with these delivery organizations and provision the necessary technical services and products. This coordination will involve close collaboration with my client’s internal AWS IPL (tools provisioning) and Enterprise IT Architect teams.
The Migration Factory team will oversee and coordinate migration efforts where reusable, repeatable AWS technologies are deployed. The actual migration tasks will be executed by the delivery teams, IPLs, and ARTs.
AWS Migration Senior Project Manager Requirements:
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager (Migration Factory Lead) with the following qualifications and experience:
Technical Project Management Expertise: - A technical project management profile with a strong focus on coordinating technical issues between the Migration IPL/ART and the AWS IPL. Proficiency in traditional project management activities, such as progress reporting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
AWS Migration Experience: - Proven experience managing AWS migrations or other large-scale cloud migrations in a global organization. Familiarity with AWS migration tools and automation is highly desirable (and close to essential).
Ability to identify and address typical challenges and pitfalls of AWS migrations with the support of the Senior AWS Cloud Engineer.
Technical Understanding: - Knowledge of AWS terminology and concepts, with the ability to facilitate discussions and meetings on both solution design and technical topics. Familiarity with technical runbooks, automation processes, and adopted standard services to promote their adoption within delivery teams.
Stakeholder and Communication Skills: - Senior-level experience in stakeholder management, communication, and cross-team coordination. Ability to bridge high-level technical understanding with clear, effective communication tailored to diverse audiences.
Optional Skills: - Experience with migrations to or from Microsoft Azure is beneficial but not mandatory.
