Job Title: Accounting Analyst II
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – 4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Duration: 6 months with potential for extension/Full-time
Rate: $46-$51 per hour

Position Overview
The Accounting Analyst II supports commercial and accounting operations by preparing and analyzing reports related to product purchases and sales. This role is heavily involved in monthly close activities, including recording actuals and accruals, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions. The position requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across multiple internal teams.
This role is well-suited for detail-oriented individuals who are eager to learn, self-motivated, and interested in long-term career growth within accounting or finance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to product purchases and sales, including volumes, pricing, and counterparties
  • Record and initiate product purchase and sale transactions (third-party and intercompany) using enterprise accounting systems
  • Support monthly close activities, including booking accruals and actuals and validating transaction accuracy
  • Monitor and manage service level agreements (SLAs) with offshore or supporting teams to ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Investigate and resolve volume discrepancies related to inventory reconciliation and invoice processing
  • Collaborate with schedulers, billing teams, analysts, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure data consistency
  • Assist with audit-related activities, including data validation and documentation support
  • Track and manage daily and monthly deadlines, ensuring timely completion of deliverables
  • Contribute to team projects and process improvement initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree (any discipline; accounting or finance preferred)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, HLOOKUP and Pivot tables
  • Willingness and ability to complete an Excel skills assessment as part of the submission process
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Self-starter with a proactive, goal-oriented approach
  • Eagerness to learn new systems, processes, and business concepts
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience using SAP or SAP S/4HANA (training can be provided)
  • Prior experience in the energy, commodities, or oil & gas industry (helpful but not required)
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive, collaborative attitude
  • Ability to influence and lead through partnerships without direct authority
